Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren, and Pierce Brosnan Are Close to Joining ‘The Donovans’

Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren, and Pierce Brosnan are nearing final agreements to join Guy Ritchie’s upcoming Paramount+ series, titled “The Donovans.” This highly anticipated drama is a spinoff of Showtime’s “Ray Donovan,” featuring Liev Schreiber, and is expected to premiere later this year. Paramount+ has not provided any comments on the casting process.

Set against a backdrop of elite fixers in London, “The Donovans” will navigate the complexities of family wealth and reputation, revealing unexpected alliances and betrayals within the ranks. The series aims to explore the duality of being at the top while facing unseen challenges that come with that status.

This hour-long drama, produced by Showtime/MTV Studios and 101 Studios, focuses on two generations of gangsters, detailing the businesses they operate, their intricate personal relationships, and the fixer they depend on to resolve their issues. Hardy is reportedly in line to portray Harry, a dangerous yet charismatic fixer, while Mirren and Brosnan will take on the roles of Maeve and Conrad Donovan, the crime family’s powerful matriarch and patriarch.

Hardy will reconnect with his “RocknRolla” director Ritchie for this extension of the “Ray Donovan” universe. Meanwhile, this project marks a new chapter for Mirren, who recently completed filming the final season of Taylor Sheridan’s “1923.” She and Brosnan also shared the screen in Netflix’s “The Thursday Murder Club,” which wrapped up production last month.

Ritchie will not only direct “The Donovans” but also serve as an executive producer alongside series writer Ronan Bennett and other notable producers. The buzz surrounding this project has fans eager for its debut, promising an engaging narrative filled with drama and intrigue.
